Eighteen years of teaching high school English. Full course load. Track coach. Three kids at home. I know what it feels like to grade essays at 10 PM and plan lessons during lunch because class will happen whether you are ready or not.
I also know what it feels like to sit in professional development sessions designed for someone else's teaching life.
So I built something different.
Teaching for Today isn't another course promising to transform your teaching overnight. It's a thinking partnership designed specifically for experienced English teachers who are ready for professional development that actually serves their professional lives.
I'm not a former teacher who's moved into consulting. I'm not an academic who studies teaching from the outside. I'm the teacher in the next classroom over who figured out some things that work and wants to share them with colleagues who get it.
- Have been teaching long enough to know what works (and what doesn't)
- Want to be more strategic without more overwhelm
- Need tools that work with their energy, not against it
- Are tired of PD that assumes they're doing everything wrong
- Want to keep growing professionally without burning out
If you're looking for cute activities or quick fixes, this isn't it. If you want strategic thinking tools that respect your expertise and fit your real life—this is exactly what you need.

Yeah...same.
You're sitting there—15 years of teaching experience, a master's degree, maybe National Board certification—while someone explains how to "engage reluctant learners" as if you haven't been doing exactly that every Tuesday for years.
You're not bitter. You're just... tired.
Tired of professional development that treats veteran teachers like we're all one motivational poster away from becoming great educators. Tired of sitting through sessions on "classroom management basics" when what you really need is strategic thinking about how to design discussions that don't rely on the same four kids. Tired of PD that ignores the reality of teaching 150 students while coaching forensics and somehow finding time to grade authentically.
You deserve professional development that matches your professional reality.
Monthly Challenges
Strategic 3 to 5-day experiments that help you try something new without overhauling your entire practice. Each challenge focuses on one aspect of teaching (like building classroom community or designing better discussions) with practical tools you can adapt to your situation. You pick your engagement level: choose the 5-minute version or mix and match working through a deeper dive workbook, listen to the private podcast episodes, or get coached through the challenge using AI prompts.
Strategic thinking tools for lesson planning, student engagement, and sustainable teaching practices. Each framework includes audio walkthroughs you can listen to while commuting, working out, or doing other tasks—plus crash courses, comprehensive guides, and coaching sessions. These frameworks help you make intentional decisions about your classroom rather than just reacting to whatever comes up. The vault is growing over time as I develop new resources.
Seasonal check-ins to help you align your teaching with what actually matters to you—not just what you're supposed to be doing. These are audio workshops with companion workbooks, designed for strategic planning that fits your real constraints and busy schedule.
If you're game, strategic prompts and thinking partnerships that extend your planning capacity without replacing your judgment. Learn to use AI as a collaborative tool for better teaching decisions.
